China imposes 34% tariff on all U.S. products
China has announced the introduction of retaliatory trade measures against the United States. According to a statement by the State Council of the People's Republic of China, a universal tariff of 34% will now apply to all products imported from the United States. This move is part of China’s response to the U.S. administration's recent announcement of broad tariffs targeting countries with high trade surpluses.
Beijing called the decision a forced measure to protect its economic interests and national industries. Chinese authorities stressed that the new tariff covers the entire range of U.S. goods, including agricultural products, automobiles, electronics, and industrial components.
The PRC government stated that it has repeatedly expressed its willingness to engage in dialogue, but the actions of the United States are harming bilateral trade and global economic stability. Beijing emphasized that it is prepared to take further action if Washington escalates the situation.
Analysts warn that China's retaliatory tariff may trigger a new wave of trade confrontation between the world’s two largest economies. Amid already unstable geopolitical conditions, this move could further strain markets and disrupt global supply chains.
