China completes construction of the world’s highest bridge
China is nearing completion of the world’s tallest bridge — a colossal engineering project spanning the Huajiang Grand Canyon. The bridge is scheduled to open to traffic in June 2025 and will reduce the crossing time through the gorge from 70 minutes to just one, dramatically improving regional connectivity.
Constructed from steel, the bridge stretches 2,890 meters in length and stands 625 meters above sea level. These specifications make it the highest bridge ever built and one of China’s most ambitious infrastructure undertakings.
The bridge will serve as a key link in a strategic transportation corridor, connecting remote mountainous areas with the country’s major economic hubs. It is expected to significantly enhance logistics and mobility, while also boosting local economic development, tourism, and business activity.
China continues to demonstrate global leadership in engineering and infrastructure, executing projects that reshape the nation's geography and transportation systems. The Huajiang Canyon bridge is further proof of China’s technological prowess and long-term strategic planning in the transport sector.
