Beijing Declares Readiness to Confront the U.S. to the End
The escalation in relations follows an executive order by U.S. President Donald Trump to raise tariffs on Chinese imports from 10% to 20%. Washington accuses Beijing of insufficient efforts to combat the smuggling of the synthetic opioid fentanyl. In response, China rejects these accusations, calling them a pretext for imposing additional trade barriers.
China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Lin Jian, stressed that He added that Beijing is prepared to resist any form of pressure, whether it be a tariff war, trade war, or any other economic confrontation.
In response to U.S. actions, China has imposed tariffs of up to 15% on American agricultural products and restricted supplies of Chinese goods to 15 U.S. corporations. Additionally, Beijing has added 10 American companies to its due to their military cooperation with Taiwan, effectively banning trade with China and revoking visas for their executives.
The escalation of the trade conflict between the world’s two largest economies is raising concerns on the international stage, as it could have serious consequences for global economic stability.
