A pensioner believed a false employee of the Investigative Committee and was left without housing
A Ekaterinburg woman received a call from Investigative Committee and was left without housing
An elderly resident of Yekaterinburg contacted fraudsters and was left without a flat. The Ura.ru portal was told about the scam by the Department of Media Relations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Suspicious call came to the 70-year-old citizen in December 2023. The swindler introduced himself in conversation as an employee of the Investigative Committee and asked the citizen for help in solving a certain criminal scheme. To do this, the woman was required to fictitiously sell housing, for which she went to a real estate company. The firm considered the transaction dubious and persuaded the pensioner to abandon the idea.
A few months later, a woman from Ekaterinburg was contacted again by fraudsters. This time the attackers managed to bring the matter to an end. The pensioner sold her flat and gave the proceeds of 3.5 million roubles to the swindlers. A couple of months later, the woman turned to the police. A criminal case was opened.
Earlier, another resident of this city was persuaded by fraudsters to get rid of her flat. The scammers sent her a message from the account of her former boss and passed it on to "colleagues" from the security service. In Blagoveshchensk, a woman lost almost 3 million roubles in a similar way. With the citizen spoke on behalf of the telecom operator and the portal "Gosuservices".
