17 Tesla cars burned in Italy — Musk calls it terrorism
Fire at a dealership near Rome linked to anti-Tesla vandalism wave and Elon Musk’s public stance.
A Tesla dealership in a suburb of Rome was engulfed in flames, destroying at least 17 vehicles. Italian authorities have launched an investigation, treating the incident as a possible arson. According to initial reports, the fire broke out during the night and quickly spread across the lot filled with electric cars.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk responded to the incident, calling it an act of terrorism and part of a global campaign of vandalism against the Tesla brand. He linked the fire to political attacks against him and the company’s outspoken positions on artificial intelligence, free speech, and energy independence.
This is not the first incident targeting Tesla. Similar acts of aggression have occurred in the U.S., Germany, and France, where vandals smashed windows, set cars on fire, and left political messages on the vehicles.
Neither Tesla nor local authorities have disclosed investigation details, but traces of flammable substances were reportedly found at the scene.
The company is now increasing security measures at its international facilities. Musk stated on social media that such attacks only reinforce his commitment to Tesla’s mission.
